May Recap :)

Hi there!

Happy first day of  the new month!
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter (with lots of chocolate and good weather :D ) and May. Even though it was ageees ago, one of my favourite chocolates this Easter (and daily snacks, I might mention) are mini eggs and I went a bit crazy and thought I should buy packets enough to fill up a glass lolly jar at home.
Yum :P Future cholesterol problems! Hope everyone had as much fun as that!
May, in Sydney, is the month at University that is the lead up to many many assessments and exams, hence the lack of posting. I did spend an awful lot of time on my campus, which is gorgeous and old fashioned and has a heritage listed abandoned orphanage/mental asylum on the river banks. Plus a whole bunch of students and cafes and stuff.

Pretty normal looking...

There is also some cool artsy stuff; this is a picture I took (well done) of this weird cylindrical tunnel art work things (no idea what they are...) that were sort of sat opposite this cafe/restaurant with HUGE boilers and rusty metal awnings and such.

Do let me know what these are if you know :)

In Sydney during May/June we also have this laser and light show, called Vivid, that happens on most nights in the city. I went for a friend's birthday on one of the first nights and it was suuuuuper crowded but it was very bright and shiny and had a nice glowing sort of vibe to it.

Opera House and Tall Ship.

My May was pretty unextraordinary, but I will be going to Japan in a few months for a unit at University! I'm planning to do a lot of travel bloggyness for that trip. I've never been to Japan so I'm very excited.
Hope you enjoyed this, and what's to come!

Hello There....

Formal Hello!

It bothers me a great deal that I didn't post anything in February. Really. So I'm sorry for that.
So I feel like I've finally decided on a theme and set up that I like on this bloggy here! (If you noticed-again-sorrry!) And I've got a lovely new camera a whole bunch of ideas so... prep up! More posts are coming this way!

I do a fair bit of traveling about the city and often spend oodles of time in various cafes over Sydney writing and reading, eating cake and drinking tea. It may sound a bit boring (and frankly, I do this completely on my own 95% of the time), but honestly it is amazing what you can learn, hear, see and experience as a observer.
But really I'm just a loner who likes Earl Grey.

Heeeere is a snaps from my journey last week.

Lemons

It is writing. A piece of work. Yes yes yes. Oooh so much work you do have, well done writer!

It's always like this. When you're wearing your owl nightie and have headphones on that you realise you don't actually have writers block. Nor do you have the ability to bold or italicize on the app I wrote this on. Or spell. Or have non-American spelling.
Currently it's rather past 3am and I'm not going to sleep, I have decided. I'm perfectly content wallowing in early morning solitude, knee cramps, hipster indie music off YouTube and very, very, very strained eyes.
Side note: that would be the reason for any of the following possible spelling mistakes. Because drafts for bloggy things don't need to edited ay?
Well, you can decide.
I decided exactly 25 or 10 days ago that I wanted to be a lemon tree farmer.

I went to lunch with a chum of mine a few weeks in a row to the same Expresso lunch bar cafe. As we went to the same place a few weeks in a row and basically moulded the two experiences into the same one, I can't remember if I made this life altering decision the most recent or...the least recent visit...
We were playing that M.A.S.H. game. Where you predict your future husband and job and kids and pets and, most import salty (importantly... Well done auto-correct) vehicle of transport.

My results show as following;
I shall marry the now just passed Doctor Who actor, (who swapped on Boxing Day, come to think of it...)
Which is pleasing, very much so! We both have brilliant jaw lines so, of course, think of the kids. Speaking of...
We shall have 16 kids.
Well....I haven't yet consulted my hips on this lovely little, teeny, tiny, incy, wincy, personal health danger but I'm sure it'll be fine in the end. I mean after all...how are babies made....
'Ts gotta count for something right? *Wink*
Anyway. We'll live in a shack. I try to make this more positive by saying, Of course a beach shack....by the ocean...with white washed walls and blue faded fishing nets hanging from them, and crumbly white shells and sand as light as whatever is lighten than the normal approximate weight of sand and it's going to be amazing.
Getting back to it;
I'll drive one of those old people bike thingys, according to the notes I have. And also I shall be a writer. Which is great, excellent of course, and exactly what I want, but there is this little hiccup...
No one takes this game less seriously than I do. But as I was waiting for my lovely friend to think of the suggestion of British men and a bonus female singer that she apparently felt fitting for me to be wed, I saw the most beautiful thing.
Outside this Expresso Cafe we were sat at, was a tree. It's always been there and there abut 100 of them along the strip that is my village, but this one was oh-so-cliche different.
Special, if you will.
It was a gray, washy day. It couldn't decide whether to rain or not so the world was blowing around a little sodden and confused for a few hours.
This tree I was mentioning earlier...It really is just a tree. One of those compulsory things they plant to make developments still appealing and eco-friendly. With the thin bone coloured trunk and shiny green leaves.
But hidden in the gale was a yellow leaf, very yellow I may add, and it blew into my eye view and I jumped inside because I thought,
"Oh my god! It's a lemon! Lemon tree!"
I don't know quiet yet why this is such an exciting thing to me.
Perhaps the idea of a new project?
Brining life into the world?
The fact that I can eat it after I complete it?
That no tree of any botanical or agricultural significance should be planted in the village strip?
And also because I'm silly and easily excited by these types of sometimes banal, sometimes irrelevant things.

Actual tree.....and not a trace of lemons....

It's not a lemon tree. I don't have a lemon tree. I probably only have a lemon a year, all together.
But this got me thinking.
Whatever I do in life, wherever I go, I would like to plant some lemon trees in my backyard.
To grow. Two for the markets, or to sell by the side of the river, like those strawberry fellas we have by the river, and one tree of my own. I will make lemonade and lemon curd and ginger beer, because in my world of logic, ginger beer is just made as fresh lemonade is, but you add sugar cane and ginger.

It's important. It's pointless and meaningless, but important. To me. It's one of those things I feel I have to do. An itching objective that needs to be ticked off the list.
I'll make a promise to you, alright.
In ten years, I assume I'll probably have grown, or changed or something "adultish" like that, and when I have I will take a photograph of my lemon trees. My lemon curd. My lemonade. And my lemon-ginger-beer brew and if you know how to find me (internet find, not post-code find) then I'll show you.
If you don't, then bad luck.

I’m new to this.

Hidden knack; nonfiction.
Sooo... Had to take a personality quiz to fill out the "description of self" on this blog.
Do you ever have that problem? You're very easily able to practice in the mirror every Tuesday evening after lawn bowls exactly what you would say when Ellen asks,
"Now, tell me about yourself."
It's easy of course. You believe in this, you're afraid of that, you love those, but you can't stand these and altogether you seem to see yourself as a sort of "humph", sort of "umph" kind of person who does "blah" for a living.
But when you're asked on the spot,
"Who are you? Describe yourself."
It's suddenly all..
"Oh, good god! Describe myself?! Who am I?! I can't remember-crud what do I like, how do I explain that hobby...Do I even fit a persoanolty type!?"
I dunno. Maybe that's just me. I really do feel like a bit of an exception. I reach both sides of the spectrum. As in I want to be a forensic anthropologist and archaeologist, but I also want to be in the Australian Ballet's version of the Nutcracker.
Most people don't really get that.....
But I guess we are not talking about that. About hobbies. We're talking about personalities.

From-We Heart It.

I typed into google search engine "Who am I?"
I thought that I'd find a funny yahoo answers page to quote, and everyone could have a good little giggle, but no, a legitimate quiz actually appeared.
The loading for my laptop was a little dodge so once I'd answered a question it took a long time to let me know it had responded to this and was in the process of loading the next page.
The result was me impatiently pounding the clicker wondering why it hadn't registered my answer yet. It had. And then in a surprisingly fast turn of events and wires, the computer would catch up with the request and load the next page whilst I was till frantically re-clicking my last answer.
Therefore....I kinda clicked answers before reading questions.
At first it was all,
"Ohuh, whatever, I'm not really taking it seriously."
Then I got sucked in, and wanted to answer them properly.
At one point, I couldn't even read on of the questions, but I know my answer was,
"To make a few enemies along the way."
Panic!
I mean I know it won't actually do anything but I don't even want an anonymous robot of a survey to think I want ENEMIES!
I don't want to make enemies......Just a little pointer there.....I don't recommend that option in life.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sure it works for some, but I've always found that you catch more bees with honey than with vinaigrette and once you've completed that you level up and evolve into Winnie the Pooh. Which is better than being on a few peoples hit lists :)
It had a question asking what I think holds society together...what is the glue for civilization?
Many options to choose of course, and all displayed by immaculate quiz pictures.
I chose the last option. It depicted a cliff and two men (assumed men, no gender bias) reaching for each other, each with a brightly coloured sleeve. Blue and yellow. I thought they looked like Spock and Kirk a bit.
Although I don't actually know who those characters are really, I've only learnt those names by osmosis on fan pages online...
I've already given away so much of my character and we're not even half way through the quiz yet.
Also...I had to pretend I was British just to do this quiz. I couldn't access the site unless I pretended I was British. Oh....story of my life though right, am I right?
*chirp*

My favourite question so far has been the one about how well you, and your unknowns magical personality reacts to insults. The pictures were truly the best on this question.
Really captured the exact emotion.
My answer was a man who looked like he was holding back that type of snorty, scoffing laughter, with one hand raised as if to disbelievingly say,
"Alright mate..."

I'm pleased to see they asked the normal questions last e.g. age, sex, location (joking I'm not in a dodgy chat room), relationship status, children, education, blah...
It made the "test" feel a little bit more real and less like a scratchy horoscope reading.
I have to admit....I was actually a teeny bit nervous clicking "results." It did seem very professional...

I was happy with most. They were different than I expected. For starters I got only 21% 'Conscientiousness'.
And at first I was like,
"Love, I received the conscientiousness award in year 2 or something!" and that I guess this just proves you can't trust everything you read on the internet.
A bit of washing-machine disappointment and bitterness with that. But then (THEN!!) I pressed,
"Continue Reading."
God dammit why!!!
And I found out, like how it can sometimes happen in those scratchy little horoscopes, it gets you exactly right, all the way down to that freckle on your left ankle and your hairstyling products of the day.
Almost annoying, really.
I guess it disregarded my slip up...You know...When I answered the enemy question...the type of answer that would get you automatically put on the naughty list.
But it did give me some things to think about.
So let's discover the real you! I think this is a lovely opportunity to all learn about each other. And ourselves.
Let's all do a personality quiz from a website in a different continent an learn!
Do be warned, as I clicked my mouse of doom over the responses I immediately reconsidered them. And then though, maybe we will never know ourselves completely. I we keep changing and growing and can't make our mind up about which picture out of five looks the messiest and how long it would be before you desperately decided you needed to clean it, then how are we to know the innermost secrets of our personality as this website does?
I think considering I'm not quiet myself this cheery time of....
4:49 am without sleep, it is safe to say that my personality test results would not be considered one of my finest of hours, or whatever. I think I'll go to bed now. And sleep.
The sun will be up soon.
